Requirements

  • Infant CPR / First-Aid required - can be completed as part of training.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Full Background check / Fingerprinting.

  • Valid Texas Drivers License.

  • Clean driving record including no motor vehicle moving violations, reckless/careless driving offense, driving under the influence, or a suspended license.

  • Over the age of 23.

Experience

  • Childcare: 1 year (preferred)

  • Transportation experience (preferred)

Training

  • Infant CPR / First-Aid

  • Food handlers license

  • Transportation Training

Additional training as required by Wellspring

Qualifications

Physical

  • Able to observe, see, hear and respond to children’s needs, emergencies and conflicts that might occur in a classroom, on the playground, in bathrooms and common areas.

  • Able to lift 30 pounds from the floor to a waist high table multiple times during the day.

  • Able to reach a child 20-30 feet away within 30 seconds without danger to the staff person’s health.

  • Able to crouch to a child’s height, maintain eye-contact at the child’s level, sit on the floor, and stand tall enough to reach children on the highest piece of equipment.

Mental

  • Have a professional mindset.

  • Able to calmly handle the daily needs and expectations of children and parents.

  • Able to communicate openly and productively.

  • Able to navigate to and from various locations in the Georgetown/Austin area.

  • Handle the stress of transportation of children multiple times a day.

Professional

  • Able to abide by Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Minimum Standard requirements.

  • Able to abide by all policies and procedures set forth by Wellspring Preparatory Academy.

  • Able to teach and differentiate lessons to meet all children’s developmental needs.

Job Functions/Responsibilities

Educational/Childcare

  • Handle student discipline in a positive manner following all guidelines.

  • Supervise children in care at all times.

  • Actively support other classrooms as the need arises.

  • Ensure the health and safety of all children in your assigned care and at Wellspring.

  • Ensure that all children’s everyday needs are met including diapering and basic toiletry needs.

  • Engage with all children in a positive and calm manner.

  • Follow daily schedules.

  • Model and encourage good social skills, communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • Assist children in both developing and keeping good hygiene habits.

  • Assist children in both developing and keeping good safety habits.

  • Follow hygienic guidelines for changing diapers/potty training.

  • Able to care for and attend to the needs of multiple children in different stages of development.

  • Encourage and assist in social/emotional growth in children.

  • Safely navigate transportation to and from locations.

  • Communicate to management as the need arises during transportation.

  • Communicate with schools in a professional manner when the need arises.

Management

  • Interact daily with parents; maintain open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement in the program and supporting the child’s family relationships.

  • Ensure that each student has transportation paperwork prior to boarding the bus.

  • Ensure that all students are safely buckled in prior to moving the bus.

  • Ensure that the vehicle is prepared to make the trip safely. (Tires, gas, lights, etc)

  • Responsible for making sure that all paperwork is in the vehicle prior to transportation.

  • Responsible for making sure that all children are off the bus safely and accounted for at destination.

  • Help ensure the school meets all requirements set by law.

  • Encourage shared decision-making.

  • Creation of a safe, respectful, and fair environment for students and other staff.

  • Team player.

  • Family recruitment.

  • Able to follow schedule and handbook guidelines.

  • Perform assigned closing and opening procedures.

  • Participate in performance reviews.

  • Attend all Wellspring meetings.

  • Regular and clear communication with Wellspring management.

Licensing

  • Facilitating and maintaining all licensing standards as assigned to you.

  • Calm and proper completion of all drills/inspections.

  • Responsible for following all transportation training guidelines.

  • Report any unsafe conditions.


Janitorial/Maintenance

  • Complete any and all janitorial duties as necessary.

  • Responsible for ensuring that the bus assigned is clean and safe for use.

  • Reporting any issues that require vehicle maintenance.

  • Responsible for ensuring the building has an overall peaceful and pleasant sound, smell, and sight.

  • Provide a clean and hygienic space for all children.

  • Report unsafe workplace issues.

  • Responsible for keeping landscape and outdoor areas clean and ready for use.

  • Responsible for keeping common areas clean, tidy, and safe for use.
